Endodontics is the odontology sector that deals with the tooth pulp, that is the internal part of the tooth, a soft tissue mainly constituted by blood vessels and nerves that guarantee nutriment and sensitivity to the tooth. The tooth pulp is present in the tooth crown and in the root canals, that is the cavity inside the tooth root.

The root canal therapy foresees the removal of the inflamed or necrotized pulp of the tooth, around the crown and root, with the purpose to eliminate the infection which is often painful, and preserve the tooth. This procedure is commonly called devitalization since it removes the nerve and vascular endings that make the tooth vital and sensitive.

Is the specialty of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, diseases, and conditions that affect them. The supporting tissues are known as theperiodontium, which includes the gingiva (gums), alveolar bone, cementum, and the periodontal ligament.A periodontitis is the disease that affects the support tissues of the teeth (periodontal ligament – gum and bone): if it is not treated properly, it can cause the loss of teeth, even if in perfect conditions, due to the progressive re-absorption of the bone and gingival tissue that supports them.

The treatment of caries through fillings and inlays allows to recover the tooth, even if significantly compromised.

The use of synthetic materials, resins and ceramics of last generation, guarantees the following, in small and significant dental reconstructions:

- The complete functional recovery of the tooth;

- An optimal aesthetic result: the aspect of the tooth treated with these materials is the same as the aspect of a healthy tooth, thus without requiring encapsulation.
